Improvement of Sealing Structure for Bearing Box of 8BA-12 Clean Water Pump

The factory is a wet rotary kiln manufacturer with an annual output of 500000 tons of ordinary Portland cement. The production water for the cement system and the cooling water for the equipment are supplied by three 8BA-12 centrifugal water pumps. Due to the unreasnable design of the sealing structure of the pump bearing box, severe lubricating oil leakage occurred during the 24-hour continuous operation of the pump, with a leakage rate of 5kg per shift. Therefore, we have improved the sealing structure of the bearing box of the clean water pump.

 

The sealing structure of the bearing box of the original clean water pump is shown in Figure 1, which adopts a bowl shaped oil blocking ring and a sealing oil ring, and is sealed by pressing the end cover. This sealing structure has the following defects:

1) There is a gap between the bowl shaped oil blocking ring and the shaft.

2) The oil return of the end cap oil guide groove is not favorable.

3) The sealing effect of the adhesive oil ring is poor, and the service life is short, losing its sealing function within 2-3 days.

 

In response to the above situation, significant improvements have been made to the sealing structure of the bearing box of the clean water pump. The improvement of the sealing structure of the bearing box is shown in Figure 2. The steps for improvement are as follows:

1) Cancel the original sealing structure of the bearing box of the clean water pump, redesign and manufacture sealing components, and use skeleton free oil seals as sealing materials. When installing the oil seal, fill the concave part of the lip with lubricating grease. One is to prevent dust and impurities from entering, and the other is to extend its service life.

 

2) Cancel mechanical oil lubrication and use No. 2 lithium based grease or No. 2 calcium based grease as the bearing lubrication material.

 

3) Add an oil blocking ring to prevent bearing grease from being thrown into the bearing box during pump operation. The outer diameter of the oil blocking ring and the clearance between the holes in the pump bearing box are set to 0.25mm. Correspondingly, the axial dimension of the spacer sleeve between the two bearings is shortened from 320mm to 165mm to ensure positioning requirements and more effective lubrication of the bearings.

 

After the above improvements, the bearing sealing structure of the 8BA-12 clean water pump was put into use in August 1997, with good sealing effect. For more than two years, there have been no pump leakage problems, saving a lot of lubricating oil.
